Alright, so Commercial Road, right? It’s got a bit of a story, that place. Basically, picture it way back when, just a road out of Portsmouth, you know, “Old London Road.” Nothing too fancy.

Then, boom! Portsmouth starts growing, like, a lot. Suddenly, it’s not just a road anymore, it’s Commercial Road, all shops and hustle and bustle.

And the LDB, the Landport Drapery Bazaar? That was the place to be. Massive department store, everyone went there. Bit of a downer, though, it got bombed in the war. But, you know, Portsmouth’s tough, it got rebuilt.

Now, yeah, things have changed. Online shopping and all that. But still, you can feel the old vibes when you walk down there. You see those old buildings mixed in with the new stuff, little bits of history sticking out.

And if you wander off Commercial Road a bit, you get to places like Mile End, and you’re stepping into even more history, like Charles Dickens was born around there. Pretty cool, huh?

So, yeah, Commercial Road’s just kind of… there. It’s seen a lot, changed a lot, and it’s still ticking along. It’s got its own little vibe, you know?
